COVID-19 Policy – LTU Tennis as of 14.03.20

With the recent publicity surrounding the outbreak of Coronovirus (COVID-19) we have had several talks with members seeking guidance regarding whether it is appropriate to play tennis at our club if they are unwell.

As a social club, our primary concern is the health and safety of our members and of course everyone’s greater family and friends circles.

At this current time, all of our committee members are healthy, and there have been no confirmed cases from anyone in our community.

We are mindful however, that as a university club we do have some members who are around others of a health status that puts them at risk should they be exposed to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

For this reason we are writing to introduce you to LTU Tennis’ Policy regarding COVID-19 and general infection control.

Please do not attend the club if:

  • You have been to a high risk country in the past 21 days

  • You have been diagnosed with Coronavirus or had close or casual contact with someone confirmed or suspected to have had the virus in the past 21 days

  • If you are currently displaying flu-like symptoms including:

    • Fever

    • Breathing difficulties such as breathlessness

    • Cough

    • Runny nose

    • Sore throat

    • Fatigue or tiredness

For more information on this please visit the Department of Health (Victoria) information page:

We are Coronavirus Free:
The club is mindful that there is concern in the public about Coronavirus, particularly in areas frequented by the public.

As a club we will implement strategies more than most, when it comes to standard hygiene principles.

Rules for players and spectators:

  • All players will be required to go to the bathroom prior to arrival to courts and wash hands thoroughly.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available at the courts. All players must apply hand sanitiser prior to them going on court for their match.

  • Please bring your own water bottle to the courts. We recommend you do not use the tap at the courts or in the sports centre as it is frequently visited by other members of the wider public.

  • Please do not handshake/fistbump at any time, especially at the conclusion of a match.

  • We have extended the scope of our standard cleaning protocols to include disinfecting of handrails, door handles and hard surfaces around the courts prior and at the conclusion of each competition & coaching day.

We thank everyone for their understanding and patience during this time.

These rules may change should there be any updates from La Trobe Uni/La Trobe Sport. We will update you all as soon as possible.

We wish everyone continued good health.
